Initially, the hindu Temple of Delaware also famous as Mahalakshmi Devasthanam. At the outset, it began as the shared vision of a small group of Indian families in the USA. After years of planning and community effort in 1996, after gathering for years. And they held a groundbreaking ceremony in Hockessin on land purchased even through the donations of about 60 families. Furthermore, the temple's construction was complete with the support of the local community, and it celebrated its inauguration in 2002.
