Imtiaz obtained his LL.B. (Hons.) degree from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, in 2012. Thereafter, he completed his Bar Professional Training Course and Post-graduate Diploma in Law from City University, London. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales from Lincoln’s Inn, London, in 2013. While in the UK, Imtiaz worked at Allen & Over, a top tier international transactional law firm, on a work placement program and was involved in various project financing transactions. He also worked at One Crown Row, a litigation chamber based in Brighton, United Kingdom, on various civil and general litigation matters.

Prior to joining Osuji & Smith in 2022, Imtiaz practiced law in Bangladesh as a corporate legal advisor and litigator for almost a decade. Since 2013, he has advised clients with investments in the energy and power sector, banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, commercial law, and foreign investment. He regularly worked with various multinational companies and foreign law firms where he advised on structuring cross-border acquisition deals, joint ventures between local and international clients, document preparation and tax structuring.

He has assisted clients with conducting due diligence on target companies for acquisition, negotiating terms and conditions of acquisition and drafting of transaction documents, share purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, construction contracts and financing documents. He is also experienced in advising clients on regulatory and licensing matters, employment laws and corporate regulatory filings and procedural formalities.
