Description
Kanika is a dual-licensed lawyer, duly admitted and in good standing with the Bar Council of Delhi, India, and the Law Society of British Columbia, Canada. She is a dedicated and experienced lawyer who began her legal journey 13 years ago in India. She was inspired by her eldest sister, who was one of the counsels in a landmark family law case before the Supreme Court of India that introduced a new ground for divorce in the country. Motivated by a strong desire to be a voice for the voiceless, Kanika followed in the footsteps of her two elder sisters, both of whom are lawyers in India, and committed herself to the legal profession with a strong sense of purpose and justice.
Kanika holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) degree from the University School of Law, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, India, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Jagan Nath University in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.
She began her practice in New Delhi under the mentorship of a leading Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) advocate. During this time, she represented a broad spectrum of clients, including multinational corporations, pharmaceutical companies, consumer goods brands, real estate developers, and publishing houses. Her practice included complex litigation and prosecution in trademarks, copyrights, designs, and patents before the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi, and various tribunals. In 2014, Kanika was part of the legal team representing her firm at the International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Conference in Hong Kong, one of the largest global gatherings for IP professionals.
