Description
KCF is founded on the Sikh principle of Seva (selfless service). Visitors describe it as a peaceful and welcoming sanctuary open 24/7 to people of all backgrounds. As of late 2024, the foundation filed plans for a major expansion to build a new 33,000-square-foot, two-story house of worship featuring enhanced prayer halls, classrooms, and a larger kitchen to support its growing mission.
Key features
Khalsa Food Pantry: Established in 2013, it provides weekly groceries—including fresh produce, grains, and dairy—to approximately 500 families every Friday evening.
Hot Meal Distribution: KCF manages one of the largest hot meal efforts in the region, often preparing up to 3,000 meals daily for local residents, the elderly, and the disabled community.
"Guru da Pizza": A unique tradition where volunteers prepare and serve fresh pizza every Wednesday and Friday night for the congregation and community.
Holiday Outreach: The center hosts an annual Sharing and Caring winter carnival and Thanksgiving drive, providing thousands of food bags, toys, and clothing to underprivileged families in Pacoima.
Youth Services: KCF operates a school that teaches Punjabi language and Sikh history, and features a playground and basketball court for youth engagement.
Specialized Aid: The foundation distributes "Khalsa Kits"—essential hygiene kits—to unhoused populations in areas like Skid Row and local tiny home villages.
Volunteer Opportunities: The operation is powered by a diverse base of volunteers (Sevadars) who assist in meal prep, packaging, and distribution.
