LIMS is a not-for-profit 501(c) religious and charitable organization dedicated to fulfilling the spiritual, educational, and cultural needs of the Long Island community. Since moving to its East Meadow Avenue location in 1993, the society has grown into a comprehensive Islamic Center that offers a welcoming environment for Muslims to practice their faith and for non-Muslims to engage in meaningful interfaith dialogue. It is known for its strong focus on family values and its commitment to humanitarian causes both locally and globally.
Key Features
Comprehensive Educational Programs:Maktab After-School Program: Daily Quranic and Islamic studies for the younger generation using the Al-Naseehah curriculum.
Weekend Islamic School: Saturday classes for children (10:30 AM–1:00 PM) and adults (2:00 PM–4:00 PM).
Specialized Learning: Includes Bangla language classes, Tajweed rules, and Quranic Tafseer sessions.
Spirituality & Worship: Conducts the five daily prayers and Friday Jummah prayers.
Humanitarian Initiatives:Local Aid: Partners with the Kiwanis Club and the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) to distribute food and supplies to the needy.
Health & Wellness: Organizes annual blood drives and financial aid workshops for high school seniors.
Community Advocacy: Hosts monthly family programs on critical social topics, such as Domestic Violence Awareness, aimed at fostering safety and justice in the home.
Interfaith Partnership: Actively builds relationships with local churches, synagogues, and other interfaith organizations to promote harmony in a multicultural environment.
