Masjid Maryam, the home of the Shawnee Mission Education Islamic Center (SMIEC), is Johnson County's newest mosque. Originally a church, it was purchased in 2019 and transformed into a vibrant Islamic center that fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for its diverse community. It serves as both a place of worship and a hub for educational and social activities, rooted in the values of compassion, knowledge, and unity. Masjid Maryam offers a spiritual home where individuals and families can grow in their faith, engage in meaningful community outreach, and build lasting connections.
