Description
BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville is a large, elaborate Hindu temple complex built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. It is one of the largest Hindu temples in the Western Hemisphere, attracting many visitors and pilgrims.
Architectural and religious features
Intricate craftsmanship: Constructed from meticulously carved stone, including Carrara marble from Italy and other materials from around the world. The temple is a marvel of traditional Hindu architecture, assembled without the use of structural steel.
Divine artistry: The temple walls, domes, and pillars are adorning with intricate carvings depicting Hindu deities, sages, and mythological narratives.
Spiritual guidance: The complex was building under the guidance of BAPS' spiritual leaders, Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj, as a center for Hindu culture, spirituality, and selfless service.
Dedicated to Akshar-Purushottam: As a BAPS temple, it is primarily dedicating to the worship of Bhagwan Swaminarayan (Purushottam) and his eternal abode (Akshardham).
Symbolic construction: Much of the carving and construction was doing in India and then shipped to the U.S. for assembly. More than 12,500 volunteers from around the world helped construct the complex.

No footwear: Shoes must removed before entering the inner sanctum.
No photography: Commercial photography and videography are generally prohibited inside the mandir.
